Azure Cross

Azure Cross serves as the Director of the Henry County Foster Closet at First Christian Church. In this role, she is passionate about supporting foster families, kinship caregivers, and others in need throughout Henry County by providing essential clothing, supplies, and encouragement. Through her leadership, the Foster Closet serves as a vital resource for families welcoming children—often on short notice—helping meet practical needs while sharing Christ’s love in tangible ways.

Born in Muncie and raised in Mooreland, Azure grew up actively involved in sports and band throughout her school years. She went on to study Nursing at Ivy Tech Community College and worked for six years at Henry County Hospital before becoming a stay-at-home mom.

Azure has been faithfully involved at First Christian Church, where she has helped teach Sunday School and invested in youth ministry. Her heart for children and families is clearly reflected in her work with the Foster Closet.

She and her husband, Johnny, have three wonderful children—Austin (Kymberleigh), Madison, and Mallory—and are proud grandparents to Phoenix, Aurora, and Asher. Outside of ministry, Azure enjoys traveling, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and reading.

Volunteers Needed!

Foster families sometimes receive children unexpectedly
and the children often lack basic clothing when they arrive. The closet helps these families tremendously! The Foster Closet is searching for volunteers to help us with this valuable service. We need people to sort and organize donated clothing and we are asking organizations to consider helping us by organizing a group service project. The day(s) and time(s) of your visit can be tailored to fit your organization. We would be happy to welcome your group morning,afternoon or evening! Individuals are most welcome as well. Will your group consider helping us continue to provide for foster families and other children in need of the closet’s resources?

Donations of new or gently used clothing (for babies, children and teens) are always welcome. We also take baby beds (newer beds with up-to-date safety features), changing tables, children’s table and chair sets, toys, etc. Monetary donations help us keep the closet going. Please consider us!
